What to Prepare and Bring

Auditioners should prepare 16-32 bars of a melodic show tune from the great songbook of musical theatre OR an appropriate pop/disco tune that showcases your vocal range. No rap or rhythmic speaking style pieces, and no karaoke or a capella auditions, please. All auditioners will audition with piano accompaniment. An accompanist is provided; please bring sheet music with all edits and key changes clearly marked for accompanist. Auditioners may be asked to learn a short dance combination in small groups, so please come dressed to move. Female-identifying auditioners should wear heeled character shoes for the dance portion of the audition if they have them. Auditioners will also be asked to read from the script. All auditioners will be in the same room together for the duration of the audition.

Callback attendees will be assigned music from the show to perform. Some callback attendees may be asked to read from the script. No dancing is anticipated at callbacks, but final decisions will be at the discretion of the creative team.

Time Commitment

Rehearsals are anticipated to start on Tuesday, August 31 and be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:00-9:00 and Saturdays, 1:00-6:00 (no rehearsal Sat. 9/4). Location TBD. Rehearsals become more frequent--almost every evening and day time on the weekends--November 1-11.

The show opens on Friday, November 12 and closes Sunday, November 21, playing a total of 8 performances. Performances are held at the Town Hall Theatre in Woodstock, VT.

Auditioners will be asked to share all of their scheduling conflicts so the creative team and staff can build accurate rehearsal and production schedules. Accepting a role in Mamma Mia! indicates a commitment to attend rehearsals and performances as scheduled, as well as costume fittings, makeup tutorials and other preparatory meetings and promotional events, with the exception of any dates you provided on this form.

About the Show

Mamma Mia! is a feel-good joyride. Sophie Sheridan is getting married and wants her father to walk her down the aisle. The only catch is, her mother, Donna, isn’t sure which of three men is Sophie’s dad. The catchy pop tunes of 70’s disco giants ABBA create the heartbeat for this sparkling musical journey.
